The cooking profession has the potential to be one of the most lucrative in World of Warcraft. The fact of the matter is that everyone in WoW can benefit from top grade foods, most people are too lazy however to take the cooking profession to a level where it becomes a gold mine.

While some players look at the cooking profession as being useless, this viewpoint is far from the truth. Foods can heal wounded players and high quality "buffing" foods can be sold for a good income.

The cooking profession is only lucrative when used to make high end items. Don't waste your time on the low end jobs as these just aren't worth it. After patch 2.3 was released, cooking quests became an option. These can be done daily to make around 7 gold a time. You'll also occasionally pick up new recipes through completing these quests.

Like I mentioned above, you can make money by cooking "buffing" foods. You might be thinking "but Mages can create food and drink too", the benefit you have over them is that their spells don't usually produce foods that can give you a temporary lift in your stats.

Once you're able to cook these types of valuable recipes, you can use them to give bonuses to Healing, Damage, Spirit, Stamina and Spell to mention a few. Don't forget that you can also feed your pets these foods to give them a bonus (if you are a hunter).

Another way advanced player's use the Cooking profession to make even more money is by combining it with Fishing. These two professions go together extremely well.

Because Cooking is a secondary skill you won't need to worry about it interfering with your trade skills. There's no real negative to choosing Cooking as one of your secondary skills.

Making gold in World of Warcraft doesn't pose many limits to players who are willing to be determined and use their imagination. - 20761
