The focus on decontamination has grown because of the use of chemical, biological, nuclear, and radiological substances has enhanced. There are two kinds of contamination that can take place. One is bodily contamination while the other is environmental pollution. Many governments across the world have established departments to deal with cleansing. The possibility of chemical and biological warfare playing a role in increasing, the demand for decontamination products is a debatable issue. Also, the increase in terrorism has triggered the demand of decontamination products.

Previously, companies, laboratories, and organizations using substances that could contaminate had decontamination products and equipment available on site. But now the threats of contamination have become much widely spread. Therefore, there has to be a governing body to control and deal with contamination. Fire fighting services and special units are trained to deal with contamination hazards.

Production of decontamination equipment and products is highly specialized work, and now because of growing demands companies need to gear up their facilities due to increase in demand of decontamination products. Liquid eye wash stands, safety showers, and a host of decontamination substances are now being manufactured. Government safety regulatory bodies require that decontamination products should meet specified requirements.

There can be several causes of contamination and what is required is fast and reliable decontamination. Conducting physical decontamination is relatively easier as compared to an environmental contamination. Similarly, water sources and animals and plant life can get contaminated. Even the air can get contaminated. So, no single or product can be used for decontamination.

The demand for decontamination products will persist as long as there is a prospect of contamination going on. The world needs harmless and prompt acting elimination of contaminating substances, and this can only be feasible in areas where there are decontamination products and fast response teams that can do this work. - 20761
